TBBCF Walk Chair Corner – November 2025

Walk Chair Corner - November

by Eleanor Mariani

THANK YOU to the 19 team leads and the 167 volunteers who worked so hard to ensure the success of our 20th Annual Walk for a Cure.  And thank you to the 443 walkers who fundraised and pounded the pavement all in the effort to provide funding to researchers who are advancing breast cancer research so that together we can stop cancer in its tracks.

We had a beautiful day and a banner year thanks to you all.  We witnessed:

  • A 15% increase in the number of walkers from last year
  • The greatest number of first-year walkers ever at 147!
  • A 15% increase in youth (ages 17 and under) walkers coming in at 78!
  • 18 dedicated people that walked all 20 years and another that walked 19
  • Walkers from 16 states
  • Walkers raised $578,483 as of November 28
  • An inspiring Opening Ceremony by Melanie Brodeur, Terri Brodeur’s middle child
  • A terrific Closing Ceremony with Azalea Drive entertaining families, friends and walkers as we all cheered the walkers as they finished
  • A fabulous 5K that featured facepainting and balloons and 86 walkers
  • A heartwarming Closing Ceremony that honored the folks that have been part of this organization for its 20 years and recognized and honored the many brave men and women in the TBBCF Community who have battled or are battling breast cancer.

I hope you all enjoyed the Walk this year and will join us next year! We have some drone footage and great photographs from August Sarrol, Shawn Stiles and Lee Palumbo and her troupe of photographers in the New London Photo Club, “The Give Back Kids”.  Make sure to check out the gallery online to check out the photos!  And save the date for our 21st Walk for a Cure on October 3, 2026!
