Clark Lane Middle School 2023

Clark Lane Middle School

Clark Lane Middle School educator, Jay Gionet, started something big back in 2007 when he took a math word problem and instead of just numbers and symbols on a whiteboard, he inspired middle school kids to reach beyond. They held walk-a-thons and raised thousands and thousands of dollars for TBBCF. Fast-forward to spring 2023 when Clark Lane Middle School students walked and raised $25,000 for TBBCF. Read their story here.

The Great Neck Country Club Women’s Association has raised more than $60,000 over the last several years for the Terri Brodeur Breast Cancer Foundation at their yearly golf tournament. In 2017 it was inducted into the TBBCF 27th Mile Club, a designation given to those who go “above and beyond ” in their efforts to raise money for breast cancer research.

Jen Massengale co-hosted an inaugural six-month promotion in collaboration with Beer’d at the Velvet Mill in Stonington. She did not have an expectation of raising lots of money during this inaugural year, but was committed to raising awareness about breast cancer and helping people learn more about TBBCF. On what would have been Aimee Reed’s birthday, Peter Zelken donated $10,000 in honor of his mother, Eileen Zelken, who was diagnosed with breast cancer earlier in the year. Read how Aimee Reed (a renowned college softball player and triathlete), Jen Massengale (Aimee’s first triathlon coach), and Maria Morin (Aimee’s college softball coach) are all connected here.

The Shack Restaurants

Jeremy Han and the staff at The Shack Restaurants have been fundraising for TBBCF since 2006. While they missed 2020 due to the pandemic, they were back the past three years fundraising during breast cancer awareness month each October.

For the past twelve years, Chuck Bowe and his crew of workers and corporate sponsors at Grand Wine and Spirits have raised thousands of dollars through their Pink Ribbon Campaign to benefit TBBCF. In 2020 TBBCF honored Bowe for his decade of contributions and awarded him membership to the 27th Mile Club, established to recognize those who routinely go above and beyond on a regular basis to help the foundation.

Waves Fall Charity Classic 2020 (1)

WAVES 8th Annual Fall Charity Classic

In the last eight years, this softball tournament has raised money for TBBCF in honor and memory of Aimee Reed. Aimee was diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer in 2015, and succumbed to this disease in August, 2018. She was a young, avid athlete participating in their softball tournaments and in triathlons, even during her chemo treatments. Aimee also walked and volunteered for TBBCF.
