Raise your hand if you’re ready to Walk!

Register TODAY

There’s still time to join family, friends, and neighbors for the TBBCF Walk for a Cure to raise money for breast cancer research.

Register online at tbbcf.org for the 16th annual walk which will take place on Oct. 2. Do a full marathon from Old Saybrook Point to Harkness Memorial State Park, or sign up for the half or quarter marathons that begin in East Lyme and Niantic and finish at Harkness. There’s also a 5K around Harkness on Oct. 2, and a virtual option is also available, so you can walk your distance at your own pace and on your own time.

The foundation is also looking for volunteers on the day of the walk. To view volunteer options and to register go to www.tbbcf.org.

For those already signed up for the walk, a final training session was held on Sept. 18 in Mystic.

A hardy group of 15 left Mystic River Park at 7 a.m. under overcast skies with a slight breeze. They walked around the downtown flagpole and then up one side of the Mystic River and down the other in loops of six and eight miles, stopping for Gatorade, water, power bars, fruit snacks, and peanut butter sandwiches at checkpoints along the way.

Remember, 100 percent of donations are awarded in the form of grants to researchers who are looking for a cure for cancer, as well as better screening and treatment.

See you on the trail!
