TBBCF Walk Chair Corner – May 2026

Walk Chair Corner

Walk with Us on October 3rd!

I am so excited to be planning the 21st Walk for A Cure. We have had our first Team Lead meeting, and there is lots of energy and enthusiasm for making this another fantastic walk to honor and support our friends and family that have been touched by breast cancer. During our 20th Anniversary walk, we had 443 walkers that raised more than half of the more than $640,000 that has gone to breast cancer research this year.  Through the generosity of our donors, six research projects were awarded.  Research monies are available for a two-year grant opportunity.  You can find out more about these awesome researchers and their projects under our research tab.

Registration is now open so please sign up. Unbelievably, $32,757 has already been raised by our walkers!! Keep up the great work!

I really want to promote TEAMS this year.  It makes walking much more fun and rewarding and can really increase your fundraising power.  It’s easy to do.

Decide on the length you will walk:

Member Funding Obligation Per Team Member

  • Full marathon (26.2 miles) $500
  • Half marathon (13.1 miles) $250
  • Quarter marathon (6.5 miles) $250
  • 5K (3.1 family-friendly miles) $150
  • Can’t make Walk Day – you can walk, run, swim, bike - virtually – done on your own time, $150 any distance.
  • Students and Cancer Survivors have a $100 minimum funding obligation for any event.

 How teams work

  • Give yourself a team name. Be creative!
  • When the team captain registers, the team will be created during registration.
  • Upon registration each team member can join the team. Each member can walk their own distance, if they choose.
    • If you decide to form a team after you have registered - no problem - email Kate Davis at [email protected] for assistance. Please note that each team member must have their own fundraising page.
  • Start your fundraising.
  • Begin training.

In future articles, I’ll talk more about fundraising and training opportunities.
