Help TBBCF keep its promise

Make a difference – become a 2020 sponsor

By SANDY MANISCALCO

The Terri Brodeur Breast Cancer Foundation (TBBCF) was created on the principle that 100 percent of gross fundraising dollars goes directly to breast cancer research.

TBBCF’s operating expenses are covered by sponsorships and/or grants. Sponsorship monies are used to run the foundation or to cover the costs of a fundraising event. Our success is based on sponsor generosity. It is what makes that 100% promise possible.

Unlike other years, in this 15th fundraising season, as with everyone in our community, we had to adjust to a new normal during this health and economic crisis.

While there have been many uncertainties due to COVID-19, there are two things that we at the foundation are absolutely certain about – our continued mission to provide funding for researchers, and the safety of our walkers, volunteers and their families.

In order to achieve on both fronts, on May 12 the board of directors voted unanimously to host a “virtual” walk this year in place of our signature fundraiser, the Walk Across Southeastern Connecticut.

On June 24, foundation development and outreach director, Amelia Caster, mailed the initial wave of our annual sponsor appeal.

And while we understand that this year brings so many new challenges, we are hopeful that you will be able to support us. Whether you are a past sponsor, a new sponsor, a past volunteer and/or walker, we are extremely grateful for your support and are looking forward to working together as we find a cure for breast cancer.

To date we have awarded nearly $5 million in grants to more than 40 researchers, resulting in over 40 publications in some of the world’s most prestigious medical journals.
