Marathoner spreads the word in DC area

Young marathoner spreading news of  TBBCF mission in DC area

By SANDY MANISCALCO

Long-time TBBCF supporter and seven-time Walk Across Southeastern CT full marathoner, Alex Interlandi, is one of several United Way National Capital Area staffers featured in a video entitled United Way NCA celebrates a year of mobilizing communities. Interlandi is a manager of philanthropy at the United Way of the National Capital area. Her participation in this video is significant in that she has succeeded in spreading the news of TBBCF’s mission to the broader United Way audience in the DC area.

Interlandi, a childhood friend of Terri Brodeur’s daughter, Ashley, completed her first full marathon as a 14-year-old freshman at Old Saybrook High School. She is the youngest full marathoner other than the three Brodeur children, Ashley, Melanie and Sean. Over the years she has raised thousands through her walk fundraising efforts.

I’m honored to share this video with you that I knew was in the pike. Alex Interlandi is a good friend of Ashley’s and is an amazing young woman, who has continued not only to support Ashley and her siblings but to support the foundation too. Alex has walked and raised money for the full marathon walk seven times and most recently this past 2019 walk. ~Michelle Sottile, TBBCF board member and sister to Terri Brodeur
