TBBCF Volunteer Spotlight – Paul Andruskiewicz

In our Volunteer Spotlight series, we highlight and acknowledge the amazing volunteers for the Terri Brodeur Breast Cancer Foundation.  Meet Paul Andruskiewicz, a longtime traffic and safety volunteer.

How long have you been a volunteer?

I have been volunteering for over 10 years.

Why do you volunteer with TBBCF?

My family, like most families, has been impacted by breast cancer.  Volunteering seems like a small, miniscule part to fight back and try to find a better way for those impacted by breast cancer and their families.

What are your volunteer roles?

I have always volunteered with the traffic and safety team.

What do you enjoy most about volunteering for TBBCF?

It is exciting to see the enthusiasm from the walkers and their supporters. If it is one mile or 20 miles into the walk, the energy remains high for the participants, and I like to spur on the enthusiasm. Many are annual treksters. And the Niantic area has some wonderful social establishments to wet the whistle after a warm Saturday on my feet.

When you're not volunteering for TBBCF, what do you like to do for fun?

I enjoy outdoor activities, running, swimming, fishing and gardening mostly. Live local music at area venues is often a lot of fun too.

Thank you to Paul for all you do for TBBCF!! For those walking the full or half marathons, you’ll see Paul at the intersection of Old Black Point Road, Crescent Avenue and the railroad overpass, so please say hi and thank him for all his years as a volunteer.

We still need more traffic and safety volunteers for this year’s walk (as well as other volunteers), so if you are interested in helping, please go to https://tbbcf.org/volunteer/.  Hope to see you all walking or volunteering on October 3rd!
