Fighting for Your Life - Claudia Marks and Erin Hofstatter, MD.will be discussing the importance of advocating for yourself medically. Claudia Marks of Madison, CT, has survived breast cancer twice and has also beaten esophageal cancer. She believes in and practices self-advocacy, and she looks forward to sharing advice she hopes will help others fight for their health. Erin Hofstatter, MD, a Medical Director at Glaxosmithkline (GSK) since 2020 and previously the Director, Smilow Cancer Genetics and Prevention Program at Yale University School of Medicine. Dr. Hofstatter was also a 2014 Terri Brodeur Breast Cancer Foundation Grant Recipient, and will speak to self-advocacy from a physician’s point of view.

17th Annual Meeting Keynote Speaker - Marla Lipsyc-Sharf, MD a 2023 Terri Brodeur Breast Cancer grant recipient and TBBCF Hendel Scholar, will deliver the keynote speech at the Foundation’s 17th Annual Meeting. Dr. Lipsyc-Sharf is currently a senior medical oncology fellow at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute/Mass General Brigham working in the Breast Oncology Program at Dana-Farber. Her research focuses on estrogen receptor positive breast cancers and breast cancer in young women.

Registrants for the 19th annual Walk set for Oct. 5 will receive a free general admission ticket to the Aquarium. That gift is available to each of the anticipated 350+ walkers. In a message to its membership, the Mystic Aquarium also plans to highlight the TBBCF mission of funding breast cancer research by lighting its main entrance in pink. The light will be lit on the evening of Oct. 1 and will remain lit throughout October in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month and in recognition of TBBCF

Another Fabulous Walk for a Cure in the Books - TBBCF was so excited to host our 19th Annual Walk for a Cure on October 5, 2024. We had 385 registered walkers and 134 walk-day volunteers join us virtually or in-person for our full, half, quarter marathon, or family-friendly 5K! Weather was perfect for speaker Ashley Brodeur at opening ceremonies and Honorary Walk Chair and keynote speaker at closing ceremonies Dr. Ada Waks.
